NAP TIME! The part of the day that keeps me sane. I had a dear friend from blog Tilly & Fran remind me that I needed to get on the ball with my blog. I'm a true blog slacker.
Today, I officially became a Southwest Airlines Companion Passholder. This means my little dude can travel for free with me all season. Yeah, he is still under two years old meaning he could fly for free on most airlines, the catch is he would have to ride on my LAP. Ummm, no thanks. So I was planning on buying my little squirmy 25 pounder a ticket for road trips and any traveling anyway, and was just going to limit my amount of travel when the email that changed my summer came. After the initial excitement wore off, I became a little uneasy. I haven't flown since the beginning of January since we are now in Spring Training in our own town in Florida. Hmmm.... This means... Oh dear Lord... Most of our credits with Southwest have come via our Southwest Visa. Uh-oh.
I have been spending the remainder of the morning/early afternoon trying to avoid Chase.com to see what the damage is. If I can't see it, it never really happened right? RIGHT?
Anyways, what's new in motherhood? Well, let's see. Today after breakfast I changed the biggest, nastiest diapers in the history of big, nasty diapers. I couldn't even be repulsed actually, just more impressed than anything. It was at least a 15-or 16-wiper. And this is the thick-ply wipes, not the thin stuff with the shapes on it.
What's new in Redneck, Florida? Highway 41 has been a road to (try) to avoid. It's pretty much our main road that you take to get anywhere north or south, but it's been a disaster lately. You see, they install a new Hooters billboard about every 5 or 6 months, and the girl on this one is not leaving much to the imagination. And when I say billboard, it might as well be a spaceship, the sucker's huge. Even I have to stare! So, needless to say, there has been fender-bender after fender-bender here.
Other than that, not much new. Holla back.

Okie State Dreamin'
It's 70 degrees here in Bradenton, Florida today. I just looked at the temp on my phone a little bit ago for *home* (Oklahoma City) and it's 28 degrees there. That really blows. Chances are, I'll probably take Kaden to the park later and then go run my five miles outside instead of on a treadmill, so I'm not exactly missing the frigid Oklahoma weather AT ALL. But I do, however, miss all the other things that that come with that cold weather. The things I especially miss about Oklahoma are: family, the best friends I could ever ask for, the Oklahoma plains where you can see for miles and miles, southern hospitality, living in the bible belt, being surrounded by people who love children (Florida seems to have the "better seen than heard" mentality for kids), the lakes in the summertime, and of course my alma mater Oklahoma State University.
An old friend posted a link on Facebook reminding me how great OSU is, and how proud I am to have not only graduated from there, but also to have figured out who I was and where I wanted to go in life while attending college there. I always review the past and think of how the tiniest decisions could have affected my life now. The life I share with a beautiful child and the most wonderful husband a girl could ask for. What if I had chosen to play college softball elsewhere? I knew I wanted to play for a D-1 team with a reputation for winning which is why I eventually chose to play at OSU, but what if my recruiting trip had been awful and had swayed my decision to go to another school? What if I had decided to transfer when we didn't have a great year my sophomore year? What if I hadn't been struggling with hitting my senior year and never called to discuss hiting mechanics with my friend at the time, former OSU baseball player Josh Fields? We never would have become such good friends, and never would have fallen head over heels for each other simultaneously.
Before I even attended there, I knew Oklahoma State had a reputation over the "other" large division-1 school in the state as the *fun* school. I had heard tales of the fraternity parties, the nightclub The Tumbleweed, and of course the very popular "Strip" (where I may or may not still have some dignity of mine laying around in a gutter in front of one of the bars). These aren't the reasons I chose attend Oklahoma State, but they came along with the package, and I gladly chose to accept them with open arms. I chose Oklahoma State because of their excellent academic programs. I was impressed by their amazing athletic facilities and the future plans for them, since I knew I would be spending most of my time there. But mostly I chose OSU because before I decided to go there, I never met another student, faculty member, or coach from there that did not consider me family. If I was on their turf in Stillwater, America, I was automatically a friend.
I found out soon that wearing the orange and black uniforms or t-shirts wasn't just about representing my school, it was also about representing all my Stillwater family. There is not a city that my husband and I travel to throughout the year (and it's a lot of cities) that doesn't have an OSU alumni location to sit and cheer together to watch the big game on TV. You're never a stranger around another person in their orange and black. I saw an old man at the bank here in our current town in Florida with his OSU gear on for a football gameday a few weeks ago, and when I "fired my pistol" at him, he didn't get freaked out and scream like the lady in the car next to him, he gladly "fired his pistol" pack and gave me a wink. Family.
Looking back on all my old Facebook pics from college reminds me of all the fun times I had at OSU (they also remind me that I was a real idiot at times), and they also remind me about all the lasting friends I made that share the same feelings about their Orange and Black. I hope everyone feels as proud about the school they graduated from as I feel about mine!
By the way, the link that got me thinking about when "I fell in love with Oklahoma State" is: http://www.pistolsfiringblog.com/when-i-fell-in-love-with-oklahoma-state/. It's a good blog, I suggest you follow it.
Well, enough longing to be back in Bennett Hall relaxing before a big game, I have a nasty diaper to change. Awesome!

Unofficial Retirement Community
Welp, funny story happened tonight. Some background info about our neighborhood first- 1. We are the youngest ones here by at least 40 years. 2- The only neighbors that don't frown on young *kids* "running down the neighborhood" are the ones across the street. They are awesome, we love them to death. 3- Our HOA fees are RIDICULOUS (we live in a no-maintenance neighborhood), and they HOA president takes her position VERY seriously. Think Mrs. McClusky on Desperate Housewives times three. We pretty much live in an unofficial retirement community.
Sooooooo... After my late spin class I came home and I was still feeling good, so I asked the fam if they wanted to walk Macy-our dear Golden Retriever- to the end of our block (where there is a small field of grass) to throw her ball and let her "potty" before bed. Our backyard is pretty much all concrete, so we usually take her down there or on a walk a couple times a day. So hubbs, baby, and I were meandering and telling old war stories (apparently a friend of a friend of hubbs is stationed in North Korea), when Macy took off running way ahead of us and would not for any reason return to our side. Our little neighborhood has barely any traffic, so we were ok with that. UNTIL I noticed the HOA president's garage door open. With her standing outside eyeing our little furry angel up with her arms crossed. I quickly racked my brain to think of how many HOA "laws" we were breaking. Dog off leash/not curbing dog? Noise violation from yelling at her? I didn't know, but I was freaking out internally. As we got closer to her (and Macy, who was now sniffing around in the yard to her right), and yelled a super friendly "hello, how are you?!" And immediately regretted it's cheesiness. Now she KNOWS that I know that she knows that we are doing something wrong, I'm sure of it!
Her: The guy next to me has been complaining about a dog pooping in his yard.
Me: Ummm, that can't be ours, we always bring a bag [held up plastic bag]
I look over, and there our big blonde beauty is taking a massive dump...... AWKWARD! I can't tell at this point if our dear ole HOA prez's view is compromised by trees dividing her and the neighbor's lawn. I don't think I have ever picked up a steaming hot pile of crap so fast. Nor do I even intend to again.
Her: Did she just go?
Me: Ummmm...
Her: Where did she just go?
Hubbs: [Starts laughing hysterically] What are the odds of that? That's pretty funny.
So what can we do now, but hold our heads up high (and bag of crap down low) and keep walking? "Have a great evening!" I yell, then add a nervous snicker. --No response--
So of course I immediately tell hubbs about all the things I SHOULD have said and the things I would say if I ever got a chance at her again, accusing our dog of poo'ing and us not picking it up! Any you know what he tells me? He tells me that there may have been a SLIGHT chance that he didn't pick up her pile last time he took her down there alone. He made an easy mistake of forgetting a bag. Embarrassing! No wonder people hate us here! So on the way back to our own house I peer into the man's yard who has been complaining about "piles", the same yard our dog violated ten minutes prior. And, yep, an identical pile (minus the steaminess) to the one that Macy left earlier. More poo was added to the already heavy bag.
Ugh, I hate it when other people are right and there's nothing I can say to them in my head to belittle them!

Forgotten but Not Gone
Well, well, well! We meet again. I totally forgot about this blog! Imagine my excitement when I stumbled onto a friend's blogger.com account and after five minutes into reading her posts I remembered I had my own. A little update for your plejh (sounds like pleasure, without the -ure)-
August- Went home to Florida (drove the trailer from AZ to FL [2,421 mi.]). Hubbs ended Physical Therapy on hip in Surprise and started rehab in Springdale, Arkansas for 2 weeks with the Royals AA-team (loved the area, did NOT love the hotel we lived in there- totally felt like I was cheating on Residence Inn).
September- Hubbs finishes rehab and joins team in KC with baby and wife in tow. Lived in Staybridge Suites for the month, and enjoyed it. Went to Chicago and Minnesota for a road trip and racked up the Southwest points.
October- Visted both parents in Okie after season. Kaden's first birthday party at Gymboree Play and Music in OKC (tear). Head to Puerto Rico for 6 weeks for Hubbs to play winter ball. Baby and I learned un piquito Espanol.
November- Enjoyed living on the beach in Puerto Rico, and began training for a half marathon (Miami, January 2011). Spent Thanksgiving with a bunch of new friends in a condo in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico.
December- HOME TO FLORIDA FINALLY. Settled in and enjoyed time with friends. Continued training my running, and gave up gluten to clear up my face and feel better. Went to Okie for Christmas and both my running and no-gluten went to crap. New Years in OKC with family.
January- Had to drive a U-haul back from OKC to FL. Now have two cars for the first time in 6 months and feel spoiled!
Which brings us to the present. My gluten-free diet is finally back on track and my half-marathon is in two weeks. Bubby is back on some kind of a sleep schedule, which means mom is happy!
Ummmmmmm, sooooooo... Sorry to be short but Dexter is on, and you know that whole thing about priorities...
